Everyone wants to be successful in whatever they do. I don’t know of anyone who starts their day by asking, “How can I fail today?”
Unfortunately, far too many of you start your day without asking, “How can I be successful today?” You’re willing to go through the motions and, in many cases, let the day’s events take control of you. The result: you avoid success! Talk about being in a rut! Does the term “victim” mean anything to you?
There is absolutely nothing wrong with success! Yet many of you spend far too much time obsessing over what’s stopping you from becoming successful. It’s easier to complain than it is to take action…any action! If you fit that description, then it’s time for you to conduct an honest assessment of where you are and where you want to get to.
As part of this self-assessment, you must acknowledge that the only person who can help you is YOU. However, many of you have gotten comfortable in the “rut” you have built for yourself. You’re in what has been called a state of “comfortable inaction”.
Here’s a simple fact: the longer you wait to take action, the longer you will wait to become a success. And, make no mistake, there are significant risks of staying too comfortable for too long.
The good news is you already have most of the tools and skills needed to get to where you want to go. So, take that first “action” step. Make a commitment to yourself to create your road map. Determine the steps you need to take and the resources you will need, and get started. Take action…right now! Whatever you don’t have, you can pick up (learn) along the way. You’ll make some mistakes, but so what. Every mistake is a learning opportunity to do it better the next time.
Success only comes when you’re willing to take a risk and act. Think about it: you have often heard me say, “it’s your choice.”
